What is Safeguarding?

Safeguarding means measures employed to protect the health, well-being and human rights of individuals, which allow people (especially children, young people and vulnerable adults) to live free from abuse, harm and neglect.

The care and protection of children, young people and adults involved in Church activities is the responsibility of everyone who participates in the life of the Church.

Our Commitments

  • Promoting a safer environment and culture.
  • Safely recruiting and supporting all those with responsibility for children and vulnerable adults.
  • Responding promptly to every safeguarding concern or allegation.
  • Caring pastorally for victims / survivors of abuse or affected persons.
  • Caring for those who are the subject of concerns or allegations.
  • Responding appropriately to those who may pose a risk.

In accordance with the Church of England Safeguarding Policy our church is committed to:

  • Caring for victims/survivors and affected persons.
  • Caring for those subject to concerns or allegations.
  • Responding to those who may pose a risk to others.

All Saints Church will:

  • Create a safe and caring place for all.
  • Have a Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO).
  • Safely recruit, train and support those working with children, young people and adults.
  • Ensure appropriate insurance cover is in place.
  • Display safeguarding contact details on church premises and website.
  • Listen to and take seriously all disclosures of abuse.
  • Act immediately on safeguarding concerns following Church of England guidance.
  • Offer support to victims and survivors of abuse.
  • Manage risk appropriately and safely.
  • Review safeguarding policies annually.

Each person working within this church community agrees to abide by this safeguarding policy and guidelines.

This church appoints Russell Hayes as Parish Safeguarding Officer.
